How do I suppress the sound when ReNamer finishes the job?

I have opted to close ReNamer on successful renaming.
Whenever the job is over, the window closes, but the computer produces a notification sound.
I have not selected any such setting.
In fact, I could not find such a setting in ReNamer GUI.

You can disable the beeps by modifying the "Settings.ini" file.

BeepOnPreview=0
BeepOnRename=0

It uses the default notification sound, so you could also disable it system wide in Windows sounds settings.

I couldn't find the settings.ini file in the installation folder.
The alternate location is not mentioned in the wiki (ReNamer help documentation).
Where should I look for this file?

The portable version will have it in the same folder as the executable file.

The installer version stores user settings and presets in the user profile directory.

%USERPROFILE%\Documents\den4b\

Unfortunately, it is not yet documented on the wiki.

Now it is properly documented here:

Re: How do I suppress the sound when ReNamer finishes the job?

I tried this. My Documents folder is completely empty, except for three links, named My Music, My Pictures and My Videos.
(My settings allow me to see system and hidden files, so that's not an issue.)

I am using Windows 10 Home, 64 bit.

[Edit] If I am unzipping the beta app into a folder, it should be treated as "portable", right?
In that case, it is missing from the installation folder.

Re: How do I suppress the sound when ReNamer finishes the job?

In a standard installation your settings and presets will be located here:

%USERPROFILE%\Documents\den4b\ReNamer\

If you can't find them there, then you need to check the Storage.ini file, as described on the wiki.

If you don't have the Storage.ini file or it is empty, then ReNamer will act as a portable version and store the settings in the same folder as the executable file. But if you have it installed in a protected location, then the effects of UAC and VirtualStore will apply.

That depends on the presence and the contents of Storage.ini file.

Re: How do I suppress the sound when ReNamer finishes the job?

I found the ini file here:
C:\Users\naray\OneDrive\Documents\den4b\ReNamer

Note that it is under OneDrive node, which is totally new to me.
(That's why I had never looked there earlier.)

Instead, I was looking at the most logical node:
C:\Users\naray\Documents
But this node did not have any contents at all!

So now I have selected the entire ReNamer folder, and started afresh.
I downloaded the latest beta, and unzipped it in a new folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Util\ReNamer

Then changed the Settings.ini file to change Beep on rename to 0.

Will update this message when I finish more experiments.

Just be aware that you have installed a portable version into a protected location, so you might experience issues related to UAC and VirtualStore.

Re: How do I suppress the sound when ReNamer finishes the job?

I think that is the complication, because I took the latest ReNamer, and installed it. Now all my problems are over.

I even got the presets back, which means they were created with a stable version, and when I unzipped the beta in a protected area, the beta probably pointed to the wrong location.
