DCSF to Client number

Could not figure out how to do this from the instructions. How is DSCF from the images removed and replaced with a client number?

Re: DCSF to Client number

Hi and welcome ejasuoe.

I am not sure if I have understood you correctly.

Can you provide a few file names you have 'before' and you want to get 'after' the renaming?

Re: DCSF to Client number

And how would you say is the relationship between an given file and the 'right' clients account number?

Still missing a few 'before' / 'after' examples from you...

How can you 'connect' the files with the clients account numbers?
How do you have that 'clients account number' at hand to provide to ReNamer?

Another way for you to solve your problem is to take look at the available rules:
http://www.den4b.com/wiki/ReNamer

e.g. see Insert, Replace, Serialize and UserInput rules.

The simplest thing I can imagine, and I guess that is what you want,
is to replace 'DSCF' and add your 'clients account number':

FROM:
DSCF1234
DSCF1235
DSCF1236
TO:
1234-999
1235-999
1236-999

DO:
Delete rule: first 4 signs
Insert rule: Insert '-999' as Suffix

Re: DCSF to Client number

The old renamer I would locate the folder and select the images. I would enter the Client number and with a click it changed the number on all the images. There are a dozen of these entries everyday and I need the most efficient way to make these changes.

There are hundreds of different ways to achieve what you want in ReNamer, but to help you pick the most efficient way we need to see few examples of file names before and after the renaming. Can you provide few examples?

For example, you could use a single Replace rule to replace "DSCF" with a client number:

Re: DCSF to Client number

The DSCF replaced with the client number 7899 on all the images in that folder.

DSCF1234     replace DSCF with client number 7899      final    78991234
DSCF1235                                                                             78991235
DSCF1236                                                                              78991236
DSCF1237                                                                              78991237

I need to know who these images belong to. Some folders may have as many as two humdred images that would need the client number.
The image should have the client number replacing the DSCF.
Where would the client number be entered?

Re: DCSF to Client number

Hi ejasuoe, thanks for the explanation.

To replace 'DSCF' by '7899'
utilize the Replace rule

Find: DSCF
Replace: 7899

If you need support on adding the files see this:
