Settings to replace Sleep in Vista?

Hi,

I have always had problems with my laptop going into sleep mode automatically under Vista.  Sometimes it works but more often than not it does not enter sleep mode.  I am trying to use Shutter to perform this task instead but would like some suitable settings.

I would like to enter sleep mode if inactive for say 10 mins but also would like my laptop to wake-up  and stay awake to perform overnight tasks which I have set up such as back-up and Virus Scans and go back to sleep once complete.

I have set up Shutter with the User-inactive for 10 min  which works fine.  I have then added Hard Disk Usage Below 1024 KB/s for 30s which works but causes the system to enter sleep mode whilst my overnight tasks are still running.  I tried to stop this by adding a third event namely CPU usage below 40% for 30s but this has the opposite effect and causes sleep mode never to be entered.

So basically, does anyone have any suitable settings for the above situations?

Many Thanks.

Re: Settings to replace Sleep in Vista?

Can you identify which process is performing the overnight tasks?

You could use "Window" or "Process" events to monitor that your overnight process is not running.
