Firefox 3: How to rename bookmarks

Could be out topic, but of some interest.

Importing IE favorites (bookmarks) in ReNamer is very easy, they each are single.mht files.

Importing FF bookmarks (favorites) in ReNamer is more challenging to me, since it is a single.htm file.

Does anyone have the experience of importing his FireFox bookmarks in ReNamer.

Thanks for the tip!

I don't know what you talking about wink (bookmark and ReNamer? i didn't use this)
but note that you can import FF bookmarks into iE first ( IE > File > Import Export... > Browse for bookmarks.html)

Hi Stephan,

I re-phrase:

I need to rename all my bookmarks in Firefox with the ReNamer.
I know the function to export the bookmark to IE, but since I have both IE & FF and each of them have hundred of bookmarks, I rather not.

Does anybody know how
1) to extract bookmarks from Firefox
2) to import them in the ReNamer
3) to export them back?

In my first post (sorry if it lacked clarity) I mentioned that:
the favorites in IE are easy to batch rename since they are all a single.htm file, i.e. 1 bookmark = 1 file.htm, but in Firefox, it is a single htm file, i.e. All the bookmarks in 1 file.

Thanks for helping

Re: Firefox 3: How to rename bookmarks

Ah, now i understand.
And my answer is still the same...

1.) Create an new folder "FF" under "c:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Favorites\"
2.) open iE and import your FF bookmark.html-file    into this new Favorites sub-folder "FF"
3.) rename the URL-files in FF-folder with ReNamer
4.) save your original FF bookmark.html
5.) open iE and export your renamed URL-bookmarks to an new  FF bookmark.html
6.) delete FF-folder if you want

I mean the FF bookmarks will lost some info while importing??? Don't know...
You could also browse NoNags.com or snapsfiles.com or Google for better bookmark sync tools.

HTH? smile

Thanks for the feedback Stephan smile The method is correct, however I was looking a way to convert the FF bookmarks without the intermediate step of creating a folder in IE and importing them into it.

But it seems that the only possiblity is the workaround you explain very neatly, point 1 to 6.
