Re: Windows 10 message /confirmation

It sounds like the controversial SmartScreen feature. Can you please include a screenshot of the confirmation message?

Are you using an installer or a portable version of Shutter?

You shouldn't need to disable any security components, but there must be a way skip the confirmation.

Re: Windows 10 message /confirmation

That change in settings essentially turns off User Account Control (UAC) features, which is undesirable in the long run, but it is sometimes the only workaround to allow installation of applications produced by not a certified giant software vendor.

Were you getting warnings when you try to run Shutter Installer?

Once Shutter is installed, UAC should no longer block it, so you can safely re-enable it.

Alternatively, you can place a shortcut in the Startup folder.

1. Hold down the Windows key, and type R
2. Type: shell:startup
3. Click OK

Done.
Message ""Do you want to allow this app with an unknown author to make changes?" at windows startup.

If I manually start Shutter from c:\programs..... it start normally.

Re: Windows 10 message /confirmation

Ressurecting an old thread, but I have the same issue on Windows 10.

I think the error relates to permissions when sharing the settings for all users. I'm an admin on the PC but my kids aren't. They always leave Minecraft running for hours and it's costing me a fortune in electricity bills. When they access their profile the UAC confirmation pops up. Makes it kinda unusable because they just cancel it and do shutter never fires up.

Happy to test more if you like. Thanks,
Rob

Re: Windows 10 message /confirmation

Hi Rob,

Can you describe your set up?

Include the build version of Windows and Shutter, the method of installation, the way you configured Shutter to auto start, what events and actions you use, when exactly does the prompt appear.

In our tests, such prompt does not appear on Windows 10 Pro (1809) when placing a shortcut for Shutter 4.3 in the Startup folder (shell:startup) to automatically start Shutter with a preconfigured preset, either in admin or standard user account.
