Re: Filter Settings > Masks Syntax

"Oooops ! First invalid file has vanished"
Could not reproduce this issue... Can you do more testing on your side ?

Yes, sir !

This phenomenon occurs when these conditions are met :

-Folder with great number of files i.e huge list of files in bottom window of ReNamer
-Renaming rule leads to some invalid names

-Preview settings are :
+"Auto preview when new files are added"
   +"Validate new filenames on preview"
   +"Real-time update of the preview"

Simply speaking, when clicking to close the warning window, there is a shift in the files list who can make any invalid file to disappear from the window !

Ohh yes, it will select the files with SHIFT, and then you can use the context menu...

I think a context menu item "Unmark all" is lacking.
It would be very useful with *marking* contiguous files while pressing [SHIFT] key...
Faster than actual behavior.

Do you really think that the "greyed out text" is no longer needed ?

Yes !

Furthermore, "Apply only to the file name..." should be the default behavior (clicking for full path)...

Regards.

Re: Filter Settings > Masks Syntax

I think it is the "Real-time update of the preview" which breaks the "focus on first invalid" feature, because that option by itself scrolls through the files list as it updates them. These options and this new feature might be incompatible. I didn't check it my-self, but with the default options, "focus on first invalid" feature worked fine on 2000 files.

I think a context menu item "Unmark all" is lacking.

The "Unmark" option does this for you. When no files selected, this option will act on all files, and "Mark" option too.

It would be very useful with *marking* contiguous files while pressing [SHIFT] key...

Just select them, and them use "Mark" option, or its shortcut.

"Apply only to the file name..." should be the default behavior (clicking for full path)...

It might sound more logical at first, but don't forget that masks were initially applied to the full path. This means that I can't make this option a default one, because users who are using this option possibly rely on the fact that the masks are applied to the full path.

P.S. I think I will keep they "greyed out" field when masks are empty wink

Found this cumbersome list shift is the normal behavior of the proggy.
Same phenomenon occurs when not using auto-refresh : focus on marked files is left when pressing "Preview".

I think a context menu item "Unmark all" is lacking.

Not my HO...  smile

Just select them, and them use "Mark" option, or its shortcut.

Inelegant behavior because all files are marked when starting...

This means that I can't make this option a default one...

No importance !  wink

Please, try to rephrase it. I couldn't understand what you mean...

And I still can't reproduce this issue...

As previously said, there is a general behavior in ReNamer who leads to shift in the files list after every action.
This shift and the loss in focus on interesting items is very disturbing...

A simple example :

In ReNamer window, a big list of files...
Unmark all...
In the middle of this list, mark some contiguous items to apply an existing rule...
At the moment, you are interested by the marked items you want to rename...
Now, make "Preview" : you are throwed back at the beginning of the list which have no interest for you.

Apologies because english is not my native language !

Re: Filter Settings > Masks Syntax

Nam, I found the problem and eliminated it.

Validation process focused on the first item which didn't have state VALID, but I forgot that unmarked files have state NONE. This means that the first unmarked OR the first invalid file would be displayed after validation.

Now it checks all states correctly. Try from here: ReNamerBeta.zip

Hi Denis,

First of all, I hope your travel was great ( Nostalgie quand tu nous tiens ! Nostalgia when you hold us !, we say here...).

The beta version was a meteorite and, now, V 5.25 works just fine : great job !

Now, If you dedicate yourself to other tasks, I simply want to say you "Good luck, my friend !"
So goes life...

Regards.
