Some version information would be nice

I'm wondering why there is no version information in the About window of ReNamer.

It would let us check if we've got the latest version. And provide the exact information in case of problems.
Now I know only that I use beta version.
I would like to know which beta it is...

Regular Expressions are not as hard to understand as you may think. Check ReNamer's manual or nice Regular Expressions tutorial for more info and start to use full power of applications that use them (like ReNamer, Mp3Tag and so on).

Yes.

Also, the "what's new" text should list the new feature in each beta separately.

After all betas are combined into one final release, these same features can be combined into one single list for that version.

I guess that might be a bit of overkill.
It's still beta, so as you could see some functionalities are added, tested and then changed or replaced with another idea. And sometimes it's just moving a checkbox into another place in the form just cause it looks better there. I don't see a point to maintain such a list.
While the list of the main changes from the last "stable" version is worth the effort.

Re: Some version information would be nice

+1 to the version information request. Would help a lot. In fact, it should also be shown in the file properties of the program's EXE.

Narayan, I think Stefan's doing a great job with the Beta Change Log here:

Don't you think so? Why make the EXE bloated? (Though if it was a separate TXT that the EXE simply displayed, that would be fine. As eR@SeR has noted, Winamp also simply displays Whatsnew.txt, which keeps the EXE smaller.)

Re: Some version information would be nice

Well, I didn't mean anything elaborate that will bloat the executable.

Just a line that has beta identification (b1, b2, etc.)

Like this:

b2
change b21
change b22
change b23
b1
change b11
change b12

(The list grows upwards.)

That way, the beta testers are clear which features are the latest, so they can concentrate their testing on these new features only.

When releasing the final version, the lines with b1, b2... can be deleted.
That will leave a distilled list of changes.
(If required, their order can be changed to bring up major changes to top.)

*******
Stefan has done a thorough job (as ever smile ).
It does not appear in my "new posts" list somehow!  neutral
