Perhaps you have moved these files?
http://www.den4b.com/wiki/ReNamer:Renam … her_folder
Try to use Win Explorer to search for them over your whole drive.

But without an exact step-by-step description what you have done and posting
the old path\names and the used rules we can't even start to help you.

Re: Renamer 5.50 deleted some files (turns out they were hidden)

Hi all thanks for your support.
I tried do search for the new names as well as the existing names on all drives. -> No result.

Renaming:
1. Search for certain fotos -> using a range of dates (windows explorer)
2. Cut and paste the fotos of a certain date into rename-Software
3. run the preview of renamer.
4. run the rename process

-> all successfully done.

rename rules:
delete from Position 1 until the end
serializse incremental 1 stept and pad to length 3 as suffix (before extension)
Insert "2012.<name1>.<name2>" as prefix

Cheers

Hmm, seems to be a valid process.
( These '<' and '>' signs are only used here in the forum as placeholders, right?
You don't have tried to rename with these symbols, right? )

Sorry, i can not imagine what had happened.
And so I can not aid you to get your files back either. Please restore them from your backup.

I too can't see anything wrong with your procedure.

ReNamer does not delete files unless specifically instructed to do so with either of:

  • PascalScript rule with WideDeleteFile function.

  • "Overwrite file with New Names" option is enabled.

  • Right-click on files table: "Shell" -> "Delete Files to Recycle Bin"

Can you confirm that you haven't used any of the options listed above?

Perhaps, a different application/process made those files disappear.

Maybe you have UAC enabled and renamed files from 'Program Files' folder?
Then the files are renamed into your profil in virtual store folder. (but you already have mentioned you have searched)

No I have only used 3 rules:
and none of the above mentioned.

1. delete
2. Serialize
3. Insert
