I have been using renamer for years, mainly just to replace filenames. For some reason it no longer saves my rules on exit. I checked my settings and have it checked to do so, it does not clear the rules but keeps an old filename in there. Any ideas why it's not keeping the latest filename rule when I exit?
I'm using Windows 7 64-bit & Renamer 5.50

One thing I can think of is that you have it installed in Program Files, and Windows Vista/7 don't ordinarily allow you to write to that location. I run the latest beta as a portable app from C:\ReNamer, and it has no such issues (using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit here).

Thanks for the quick reply, sorry I didn't reply as quick. Once I reinstalled ReNamer to a different directory it saved my rules on exit. What is strange though as I now have ReNamer installed in directory: "C:\Program Files (x86)\ReNamer\" and it saves the rules fine.

A reply after 3.5 years! Oh well, better late than never I always say.

Sometimes the OS' folder virtualization feature may kick in. It's possible the actual files are being saved to "C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\ReNamer\" instead. The only way I know for it to save to "C:\Program Files (x86)\ReNamer\" is to run the program as admin or have UAC turned off. Is that the case on your system?

Yes, I turn off UAC.

All these problems with UAC and VirtualStore should be gone in ReNamer v6. The installer version will use user profile directory to store all user data.
