Re: re naming photos

I have tried the serialize rule but it does not delete the old previous names, just adds the numbers

Re: re naming photos

I beleive that you - as well as I - are running ReNamer in a different language than english.
I didn't get the hint from Denis right "Where: Replace current name" and so I told you 'bout another rule (Delete).

So if you reread all the hints in this thread you now have two ways to get the previous names deleted or overwritten:

  1. add a "Delete" rule before your rule to clear the name

  2. or - and this would be easier - check the radio button for where to insert the number. Choose the option "Replace current name". This radio button is part of the "Serialize" rule.

Follow the link from den4bs' post and take a look at the picture there:

You can use the >>> Serialize rule <<< to achieve that.

You can open that URL from the Google Translator web page to translate it in your language.

Also you can post here a picture of your ReNamer with the used Rules and we will take a  look.
Or use "Export to Clipboard" to copy the used rules as text and post that here.

A quick search on the forum reveals:

2017-03-29
ReNamer 6.7
* Added option to replace the current name in Serialize and Randomize rules.

Re: re naming photos

Hi
Yes I do know about the duplicates, but just to be able to re-name would help.
I was planning to rename the whole file in one go, break them down into individual smaller files of 300, then rename them again from 1-300   removing the duplicates.
Anyone help please ?
