Renamer cannot import presets, shows first-time use dialog every time

Hi

I have got a new laptop, and I installed 7.5.0.3 Beta by extracting the zip.

In my old laptop, I used the Presets > Browse... menu to locate the preset files, and copied the files to a pen drive.
Then in my new laptop, I used the Presets > Import menu to import the rnp files (one file at a time).

But Renamer is unable to import the preset. It fails silently without produces any error message.

The Preset > Browse... and Preset > Manage... menu options remain grayed out.

Also, every time I launch Renamer, it shows me the Terms of use dialog, and makes me wait for 5 seconds.
Then it shows the "first time use" dialog, and asks whether I want to see the user guide.

I was not sure whether this is a 32-bit or 64-bit, so I tried to copy the app in both locations.
But that did not change anything.

Please help!

Re: Renamer cannot import presets, shows first-time use dialog every time

It sounds like ReNamer can't save settings and presets.

This usually happens because of file system permission issues or/and interference by another application, such as anti-virus.

If you are using Windows Security (Defender), check the following:

1. Click on the Windows Start symbol or Windows Search symbol and type "controlled folder access", click on the first match.
2. You should see a setting for enabling/disabling the Controlled Folder Access feature. Is it enabled or disabled?

Try unpacking a portable version (including Beta version) to a temporary new location with full write access, e.g. your desktop. Can it save its settings there?
