IMO the Analyze dialog should match the Settings, Filters, Add Rule and other dialogs and not display an additional button on the taskbar.

The reason why Analyze dialog is displayed separately on the taskbar is because it is not a modal dialog like Settings, Filters and Add Rule. That means that both Main window and Analyze dialog can be worked in simultaneously, while modal dialogs must be closed first before getting back to the original window.
Also, when both Main window and Analyze dialog are open they can both cover (hide) each other. Taskbar buttons help in that case.

Hmm, ok, didn't think of simultaneous use. Unfortunately it's not as if the windows are truly independent. Some problems I noted:
1) Two taskbar buttons but only one icon in Alt+Tab so can't use keyboard to switch.
2) Open Analyze dialog, then Add Rule, then click on Analyze and back on Add Rule. Now for some reason the Analyze dialog can't be activated unless the Add Rule dialog is closed.

A single process is displayed as a single button in the Alt+Tab window, because the idea is that you are switching tasks or processes.

Add Rule is a modal form, like Settings, Add Files, Add Folders, etc. Modal form block all other forms in the application until they are closed. It is intended.

Why is it that one can switch to the Analyze dialog once from Add Rule but then not again? Shouldn't even that first switch be blocked?

Andrew, I can't reproduce it. Both Main window and Analyze dialog are inaccessible after opening the Add Rule dialog.
This is with the latest development version on Win 7.

If I open the Analyze dialog, then open Add Rule, I can click on Analyze once to bring it to the top, but if I then click on Add Rule I can't click on Analyze again. So it seems after opening Add Rule the Analyze dialog is accessible once and only once for some strange reason. Must be something to do with Windows itself.
Of course I'm also using 5.74.8 Beta on Win7.

I followed the same steps but still can't reproduce it... I tried it on 3 different machines with Windows XP and 7.

That's strange. Wonder if it affects only the Win7 Aero Basic theme?

I can confirm the same thing on XP. I think we are trying to click on the window, while Denis is clicking on the taskbar.
If this software has helped you, consider getting your pro version. :)
