Renaming progress status

I am using ReNamer in this very moment to serialize the filenames of a folder which contains some 20'000 files.
To improve the performance, I had to disable "Validate new filenames on preview" and "Real-time update of the preview".

- There is no way to know the present status of the renaming process
(something like at least one of the following: "Now renaming file: 2'000 of 20'000,  (10% done), [progress bar], 18'000 items remaining...).
I can only wait for the operation to end.

- There is no way to stop the program (with very large file blocks it becomes non-responsive until it ends), apart from killing the process, which is not the best thing to do...

Re: Renaming progress status

This is a known issue. The only way to address this is by rewriting the core in a threaded manner, in order to allow asynchronous renaming and GUI updates. Unfortunately, ReNamer was designed a long time ago and being a threaded application was not part of the design at the time. I have this task noted for the future but cannot commit to it right now.

Meanwhile, I'll just point that (at least in XP) if the window is minimized, the real-time preview doesn't slow down the process.

If this software has helped you, consider getting your pro version. :)
