Presets menu
Presets store a named set of rules that can be quickly loaded and reused. For a full overview of working with presets, see Using Presets.
| Option | Shortcut | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Load | Open a submenu listing all available presets. Click a preset to load its rules into the Rules pane, replacing the current set (any unsaved rules will be lost). If the preset was saved with filter settings, those will also be applied. To append rules rather than replace, hold Shift while loading a preset, or use the Append Preset option in the Preset Manager. |
|
| Save | Shift+Ctrl+S |
Save the current rules to the loaded preset. If no preset is currently loaded, prompts for a name. |
| Save As | Ctrl+S |
Save the current rules as a new preset, always prompting for a name. |
| Manage | Ctrl+M |
Open the Preset Manager dialog. |
| Browse... | Open the folder where presets are stored in Windows Explorer. | |
| Import... | Select preset files from any location to import (copy) them into ReNamer's presets folder. | |
| Create Links | Create shortcut files (droplets) for each available preset. See the Create Links section below. | |
| Rescan | Rescan the presets folder and repopulate the Load submenu. Useful after manually adding or removing preset files without restarting ReNamer. |
Create Links
The Create Links option opens a dialog for generating shortcut files, known as droplets, for each available preset.

Shortcuts will be created for every available preset and placed in the specified folder. Two modes are available:
- Load with Preset — open a new ReNamer window with the preset loaded into the Rules pane and the files sent to the shortcut loaded into the Files pane. You can then review or adjust the rules before renaming. Any filter settings saved with the preset will be applied to the incoming files.
- Rename with Preset — load the preset and automatically rename all files sent to the shortcut, without opening the main window.
For more information, see the Command line article.
Warning: The Rename with Preset mode renames files immediately, without any confirmation prompt.
